The coolers included on this chart actually only begin to scratch the surface. So many manufacturers and models exist that there is no way that we could possibly have listed everything. However, many exceptional coolers are included at every price range and from a wide variety of quality makers.
What is a Wine Cellar?
Simply put, a wine cooler is a special type of refrigerator that is built to keep your assorted wines (red and white) in the temperature range that they are best suited for in other to preserve their designated taste.
Wine Cellars have a definite advantage over the standard refrigerators, especially if you’ve got a sensitive bottle that is to be chilled to a definite level. Wine coolers are more mobile and lightweight and hold a distinct temperature level at a constant level – just the way your bottles like them. Wine coolers also tend to take up less storage space and (most of them) have very stylish and elegant looks, which is a great show-off when you have company over at the dining table
How To Find a Wine Cooler That Meets Your Needs
Above you will find an interactive comparison chart of many of best wine chillers on the market today. But before you start salivating over your next cooler device, lets throw this under the microscope and take a critical look at what’s really on this guide.
Overall, rather than taking some guys advice on YouTube about what the best wine chiller is, look at the options and criteria to help you make the appropriate buying decision – your very own decision!
So, below you will find and in-depth review of each of the products in the Ultimate Wine Cooler Comparison Guide above to help you find the perfect cooler for you.
In-depth Wine Cooler Reviews: Our Top 3 Recommendations!
Honestly, most of the coolers included in the chart above are excellent options; but there are a few that we just need to point out as our favorites!
Below you will find Amy and I’s top 3 picks for overall best wine cooler along with a more detailed review of each. So, pull up your rocking chair and cup of coffee and let’s dig into these options.
Haier HVTM08ABS 8-Bottle Wine Cellar
Based on overall rating, quality, portability, and reputation of the maker, the Haier HVTM08ABS is one of the best wine chillers out there that money could buy. With a dimension measured out by us at 9.9 x 18 x 21.3 (which is a little bit different from the 9.9 x 16.2 x 21.3 quoted by the manufacturer on amazon), this wine refrigerator is definitely the most compact of them all that we reviewed.
The smart physical build of this product means it will easily fit under that counter of yours in the living room – or would you rather station it under that 22′ high kitchen cabinet? The attractive price tag of about $100 to $120 also makes it solid chiller that just about anyone could snag up at the snap of a finger.
This “small guy” is able to comfortably house 8 bottles of your regular reds and whites with no problems – but you might want to be looking in another direction if all you intend storing are the bigger than normal deluxe brands.
The quietness of the HVTM08ABS is yet another feature of this wine chiller that you won’t want to pass over. While some reviewers over at Amazon say that the product is a bit noisy, being someone who is very sound conscious, I’d say that the fan of this product isn’t any louder than a PC fan – perhaps even lesser. In essence, if you have any other equipment switched on around (perhaps a ceiling fan), you will surely not hear a sound from the Haier HVTM08ABS.
But for the capacity of 8 bottles at most (which might be on the small side for a huge enthusiast), this wine chiller would have been the one ‘size’ fits all, for every wine buyer seeking a new wine cooler. After all is said and done, the capacity of this chiller doesn’t rob it of it’s status as our number one recommended wine chiller here at www.winecoolerreviewsblog.com – yeah baby! It tops our list any day!!
Going at a the-manufacturer-must-be-so-crazy dirty cheap price of about $100 (I mean for such a ‘machine’), if all you’re looking for is a cellar to store and chill your few bottles, I’d say that the Haier HVTM08ABS is one product you should widely open your wallet for and buy right away.
Although, it doesn’t provide the benefits of holding 25 bottles of goodness at a go, it does offer you a low entry point for a great wine chiller at a steal.
Haier HVTM12DABB 12-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cellar
Coming in second with a slightly higher price tag of around $120 (it’s definitely not in the ‘expensive’ zone in wine chiller ville) is the Haier HVTM12DABB.
Not that this is a secret (I mean the name screams it all out), the HVTM12DABB has a holding capacity of 12 wine bottles, and ships in a superior well-packed box cushioned with stryofoam for protection against damage in transit – you know what they say about first looks?
This product has dual zone compartments which allows for different temperature settings on each side to accommodate your reds (up) and whites (below) at their optimal temperature condition. The unit is fairly light weight and elegantly designed. The fan is very quiet and would hardly disturb you at all. It’s also very easy to clean with no special cleaning needs.
Compared to other wine refrigerators on the block, the HVTM12DABB is designed such that it will accommodate re-corked wine bottles – something most users of other products complain about. As a user of Amazon reviewed, “it holds all of my bottles – whites, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, all with no issues closing the door”.
Going over to the gloomy angle of things, users of this beauty have complained that the front panel does tend to collect fingerprints, especially since it is glossy black…but, hey, are you really gonna discriminate this “dude” because he’s shiny-black? Another “something” to consider is that using a thermal electric cooling technology (rather than a conventional compressor), the cooling power of this wine chiller becomes sort of weaker in hotter room – this is common with 90% of new wine chillers out there though.
Wait a sec…one big heads-up to keep in mind before opening up your wallet to this, is that fact that this particular chiller is not designed to be a built-in unit! So make sure you have free standing space all around where ever you’d be setting it up.
Overall, if you a variety kind of wine enthusiast who loves his whites as well as his reds, and will like to have your red and white brands chilling off at their perfect temperature, the Haier HVTM12DABB is definitely the direction to look towards…with no hesitations!
NewAir AW281E 28 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler
That’s right! Starting our top 3 with an 8 holder, then down to a 12 bottle capacity chiller, I knew you were beginning to ask yourself where the “bigger boys” are at - NewAir AW281E
No prize for the winners of the guess on how many bottles the AW281E holds, as the name already lets the cat out of the bag.
Put aside the fact that this elegantly designed wine cellar can hold 28 bottles of goodness at a go, another feature that makes the AW281E
awesome is the fact that it chills to your desired temperature fairly quickly and maintains same – this is made possible due to the insulated door it’s built with that maintains the interior temperature & reduces UV penetration for wine chilling consistency.
This chiller is also pretty quiet – at least you only get to hear the low humming sound from the fan if all the appliances in your home are turned off. The quietness coupled with the mystical visual effects that the built-in blue lighting gives this unit makes it a great show-off to your visitors – you can place it on the dinning.
The only advise I’d be leaving you with, based on my personal experience, is that the AW281E is not so appropriate for chilling white wine due to temperature constraints – it would hardly ever down below the 54 to 50-ish degrees mark. If you are into white wine, my personal recommendation is the HVTM12DABB dual-zone unit reviewed just above.
Selling at a cool $240 to $260-ish amount of money, why wait if you are a big wine collector that hate the idea of visiting the wine stands every other 3 days?
